What to Expect for Your First Class
We offer yoga classes for every body. You do not have to be flexible, a certain size, or have a specific amount of strength to join us. We will meet you where you are, and start with breath (the basis for all movements in yoga). Feel free to call us ahead of time if you have questions.
You are welcome in any emotional state. Our community is comfortable holding space for laughter and tears. Bathrooms are accessible just outside the back door of the studio if you need a few minutes alone before, during, or after class.
We recognize that creating a diverse and inclusive environment is an ongoing process, and seek to co-create such a space by welcoming all beings and feedback.
We have free parking available in the back of the building. You are also welcome to park in the streets, or there is a lot kitty-corner, across the street from our building (next to the wonderful, Soulful Earth Herbals). The entrance to the studio is in the front of the building, facing Washington Ave.
We have the necessary equipment (mats, blocks). Feel free to bring a water bottle and hand towel if you would like.
Dress comfortably in clothes that allow movement.
Let the teacher know if you have any injuries or other conditions that would affect your practice.
Yoga is typically practiced with bare feet (shoes and socks off).
Shoes and other outerwear can be placed in the breezeway and cubes in the front of the studio.
Feel free to place your mat where you feel most comfortable. Introductory classes face the brick wall with the prop/equipment storage. Please avoid placing your mat under the laptop hanging in the middle of the studio.
Doors open 15 minutes before each scheduled class time and teachers are available for 15 minutes after class for questions and comments.
We accept cash, check, Venmo, and all credit cards as methods of payment.
For people sensitive to fragrance/scented products, please refrain from wearing perfumes or strong scents.
We currently offer live classes virtually via Zoom. You are welcome to have your camera on or off, we want you to be comfortable. You may want to have props (blocks, blanket, etc) that assist your practice ready at the start of class. We typically mute the microphone of class participants during class, but you are welcome to unmute your microphone to ask any questions.
We offer on-demand classes. These are helpful if you are out of town and want to bring us with you :), you want to practice in the comfort of your own home (some say they like to stay in their PJ’s), you are feeling a bit off but think yoga might help and you don’t want to share sickness that might be coming on, or you are new to yoga and want to become more comfortable with the names of the yoga poses and movements before venturing to class (you can use the rewind & pause buttons to spend more time with certain tricky ones).
We have radiant heaters hanging from the ceiling. If you are under one of the spots that have a heater above, it can be customized heat (high, low, or off) with the use of remote control.
